Aunt Dimity and the Next of Kin by Nancy Atherton

Aunt Dimity was a close friend of Lori Shepherd, the main character. When Dimity died, she left a large inheritance to Lori, as well as a blank, leather journal. Lori talks to the journal and Aunt Dimity replies by writing back her replies in the journal. Lori loves helping people. She goes to the hospital to read to patients. At the hospital, she meets Elizabeth Beacham, a retired legal secretary. Ms. Beacham doesn't have any visitors and even her brother Kenneth does not come to visit her. Lori tries to find Kenneth in order to inform him that his sister is dead. During her search, she finds most of her assumptions about Ms. Beacham are wrong.

I found the book pretty interesting. It wasn't a suspenseful thriller, but it was suspenseful. It was pretty quick to read and is a "lighter" mystery novel.
