4th of July by James Patterson
Patterson splits the novel between a trial and a homicide investigation, which makes the book more interesting. He writes very convincing arguments for both the defendant and the prosecution team. The ending has a few twists, but the villians are as expected.
Lindsey Boxer shoots in self defense and is put on trial for this. She then goes to stay at her sister's house in another area in order to get away from the stress of the trial. There she notices that murders that occur are similar to a John Doe case she worked on 10 years ago.
